Balto passed away last weekend, and we are left with heavy hearts at the refuge. This wonderful dog joined the Live PAWS family in May 2020.
It was quite clear, when he arrived, that something was not quite right. He was continuing to lose weight, so we took him to the vet.
Balto was found to have kidney disease, and needed a special diet. This meant he had to be in a kennel on his own, so as not to steal the other dogs’ food, which would have made him poorly.
He also tested positive for filaria, but, because of his ill health, he could not have the more-successful invasive treatment. It could have killed him.
Balto enjoyed his trips to Mascots recently, and loved his walk days with everyone! He really loved people, especially the Live PAWS team!
Balto, our darling boy, be pain free, and eat the treats you couldn’t have in this world!
We love you. We will miss you.
