Today was our annual vaccination program. All the dogs (more than 50) are vaccinated with the normal yearly vaccines, plus heart worm and rabies. Some new dog were tested for heart worm and thankfully were all negative. A huge thank you to our vet Elena and Pilar who gave their time for free to help and to the volunteers who helped run this event. Finally a huge thank you to all our sponsors who not only donate money, but also items for the shops, and of course those who purchase these items. Without all of the above, today’s success would not have been possible.

Meet Alice our little ray of inspiration, who is always happy despite her health problems. Alice came to the refuge as an old lady a few years ago. She is 14 years old and has a number of mammary tumours. Despite her age and health issues, she still plays with her friends in her enclosure . She always has a wagging tail for her human friends too. Today we had the idea that maybe she would benefit from a t-shirt to provide support for the tumours. Alice thought this was fun and strutted her stuff like any super model, finally demanding extra cuddles from the volunteers. If you look you can see her t-shirt says team. Could you help support team Alice ??
This sweetheart of a Shar Pei we have called Fleur. She was found by one of our volunteers tied up outside the refuge yesterday with strangely, a plastic bag tied to one foot. When it was removed we found to our horror this growth/wound. She was taken immediately to our vets who have admitted her for pain relief, tests, and on going care. We hope to have some news very soon as to the nature of the problem but we are highly suspicious that its cancerous.
