Simba

Simba was found abandoned outside a supermarket when he was just a puppy. He was lucky enough to be adopted, but sadly, his adoption didn’t work out.

He was returned to the refuge when he grew bigger than his family had expected. Simba has now been back at the refuge for two years, waiting for someone who will truly understand him and give him the chance he deserves.

Despite everything he has been through, Simba has a huge heart and is a wonderful character. He is young, energetic and affectionate with the people he trusts.

He enjoys human attention and, once he has built a bond with someone, he can be a very loyal and loving companion. Simba is also a very clever boy.

He already knows commands such as sit, lie down and give paw, and he is eager to learn more. He needs someone who can give him plenty of mental stimulation, training and exercise.

Kennel life is extremely stressful for Simba, and inside his kennel he does not always show himself at his best. Outside the kennel environment, staff see a very different dog.

Simba currently lives alongside Pandora at the refuge, and they share their space together. It is important to understand that Simba does have challenges.

When out walking, he is currently very reactive towards other dogs and wears a muzzle as a safety precaution. We believe that the stress of refuge life may be contributing to some of this reactivity, although this will need to be assessed and worked on carefully in a home environment.

Anyone considering Simba must be prepared to manage this responsibly and continue working with him. Simba needs an adult-only home with a confident and experienced person who has plenty of time for him.

Building trust with Simba will take time. He needs someone who understands that relationships with him must be built at his pace and who is prepared to give him the patience, structure and consistency he needs.

He is a clever, energetic dog who needs the right person to help him channel his energy and intelligence in positive ways. Simba will not be the right dog for everyone, and we want to be honest about that.

His future adopter will need to understand his challenges and be prepared to work with him. But with the right person and the right environment, Simba has the potential to be a loyal and rewarding companion.

After two years at the refuge, he is still waiting for the right home.
