Today, we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Margot. Margot was a gorgeous German Shepherd who was just seven years old.
We found her on the streets when she was around three, and it quickly became clear that life in a refuge was not the right environment for her. Thankfully, we were able to find her a wonderful foster home, where she spent several very happy and much-loved years.
Last year, Margot was diagnosed with mammary cancer and underwent surgery to remove it. Sadly, around a month ago, the cancer returned and had spread to her spine and leg.
There was nothing more we could do to stop the disease, other than ensure that Margot was comfortable and free from pain. Over the past two days, our beautiful girl deteriorated significantly, and today Mark had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go.
It is one of the hardest decisions we ever have to make. But sometimes, the greatest act of love is knowing when it is time to say goodbye.
Mark made that decision with Margot's best interests at heart, just as he does for every animal in our care. Margot deserved to leave this world peacefully, surrounded by love and free from suffering.
Rest peacefully, our beautiful girl. Run free, Margot.
There is no more pain and no more suffering. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever remain a part of the Live PAWS family.
