Meet Lena

Live Paws · 3 August 2026

Meet our amazing foster mum, Lena. Lena already has two adopted dogs of her own and cares for three cats she rescued herself.

She does it all with a huge heart and asks for nothing in return. Then, back in April, a tiny cat was brought to Live PAWS by some tourists.

She was in a terrible condition and very nearly didn’t make it. Although we’re a dog shelter, we did everything we could—veterinary examinations, treatment, and emergency care.

But she needed more than we could provide, so Lena opened her home to her. For months, Lena cared for her with endless love and patience, helping her recover.

Sadly, one of her eyes couldn’t be saved, and she also tested positive for feline leukaemia (FeLV). Now the next chapter of her journey begins.

She’ll spend 10 days at Mark’s finca before moving to the K9 cat shelter, where she’ll live safely and happily with other FeLV-positive cats. Her journey has been a long one, but thanks to kindness, compassion, and people like Lena, she is now happy, comfortable, and free from pain.

Thank you, Lena, for showing what fostering is all about.
