Dear Niña came from El hierro from another refuge ,who were unable to get her adopted due to her age, she is 13 years old. Having been previously abandoned , she had her puppies even with her tumour, caring for them as a mum would. Once the puppies were weaned she had the large tumour removed, and although she could not be sterilised because of complications, she bounced back .

When she arrived at Live Paws , she went straight into foster care with Amanda. Niña had a white eye and because of her age and history , we asked Lourdes , the ophthalmologist for her opinion. It appears that she had received a knock on the head at some point and this was the result. Pronounced fit for anaesthetic she had the cataract repaired. Amanda reports that after 5 hours she came out of surgery wagging her tail as usual.

Unfortunately she developed a tumour on her side which had become hard and open. Niña is a dog who wants to carry on enjoying the life she has now , we could not take that chance away from her , so her new tumours were successfully removed.

Thanks to the love and care from Amanda , Niña is still enjoying the time she has left, for which we are eternally grateful.

Even though there has been considerable costs involved , live Paws never put a dog to sleep if they are NOT suffering. Hopefully looking at the video of her now, you will agree that our hard earned donations have been well spent.
