Rest in peace, Fredy
We are heartbroken to say goodbye to Fredy, a kind, lovable and incredibly brave boy who meant so much to everyone who knew him at Live PAWS. After bravely coming through surgery last year, Fredy sadly passed away last week after a large tumour ruptured, with no warning signs.
Fredy had been lovingly cared for by Amanda, a true superstar of our foster team, who welcomed him into her family after he came into the refuge. Amanda does so much on her finca for dogs who are able to join her family, especially the elderly and poorly.
She gives them comfort, warm beds, affection and a place to belong, knowing how heartbreaking these goodbyes can be. Fredy leaves an enormous space behind: his favourite sofa and blankets, his place at mealtimes, and that wagging tail welcoming Amanda home.
His canine family are missing him too, still waiting for their friend to come up the path. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him, but none more so than Amanda.
Our hearts are with her, and we are so grateful for the beautiful life she gave him. Run free, dear Fredy.
You were family, you were loved, and you will never be forgotten.
