Rubio lost his leg, but never his wag – will you help dogs like him?
A dog called Rubio was brought to us with his leg broken in three places. The bone was showing, and it had been left untreated for over a week. By the time he reached us, the infection had spread to his hip. Our vet had to take the leg off. He was so weak that it was done under the lightest sedation possible.
His tail never stopped wagging.
Nobody ever came for Rubio. So Mark, our president, made it official: Rubio stays. He now lives at our finca, safe and loved, for the rest of his life.
Rubio is one of up to 250 dogs we care for across our shelter, our finca and foster homes in the south of Tenerife. It costs €15,000 every month to feed them, treat them and keep a roof over them. We get no government funding. Every euro comes from people like you.
