Today, our lovely Tizon went into foster care , something we have wished for him for a very long time.
Tizon was originally rescued from a government shelter back in 2018. Sadly, his new home was a finca where he did not receive the care he needed. In 2024, he arrived with us in a very poor condition ,neglected and severely undernourished.
It is heartbreaking to see a dog so painfully thin that every bone in his body is visible. Our usual tests also showed that Tizon was filaria positive. Because of his poor health, we were unable to give him the usual injections, so instead we treated him with oral medication. A year later, he finally tested negative.
If only that had been the end of his troubles.
Tizon suffered an episode of collapse, and for a moment we thought we were going to lose him. Further investigation revealed an underlying heart condition, meaning he needs ongoing medical treatment.
Tizon is a gentle boy who simply doesn’t know how to stand up for himself. Sadly, this meant he had a few scrapes in the kennels. Thankfully, we eventually found him a perfect canine friend, and they have kept each other company.
But we always knew that kennel life was not enough for Tizon. He absolutely adores people, and it was heartbreaking watching as people came and went, choosing to adopt or foster other dogs while he was left behind.
Then, last week, we had a breakthrough. A lovely lady contacted us to enquire about fostering, and when she was introduced to Tizon, it was simply meant to be.
Cintia knows that Tizon can be quite the escape artist, but her home is perfectly suited to keeping him safe and stopping him from going off on one of his little adventures!
And here’s the best part, When Cintia goes to work, Tizon goes too!
After everything this wonderful boy has been through, he finally has something we have wanted for him for so long , his very own human.
We will continue to cover Tizon’s costs, including his medical care, as his bills are understandably expensive. But seeing him finally have a loving home and a person of his own makes every penny worthwhile.
Our foster team will continue to support Tizon and Cintia with regular calls and visits whenever required, making sure they have everything they need as they begin this new chapter together. We hope this is the beginning of the life he has always deserved.
